Unusual board games you never heard about!

Something that people have always done is playing games. Take it as you will, we’re referring to board games. The first discovered board game was Senet, found in 3500 BC! Nowadays, we have some game nights with family or friends where someone always gets angry and flips the board.

While most people either play card games, monopoly, Trivial Pursuit or Jenga, we here at Brossac Braderie like to spice things up a bit. Here is a list of some of our more unusual board games we have available:

Scrabble
Our Scrabble table at Brossac Braderie

Starting with perhaps the most “common” uncommon game, Scrabble is a classic game that challenges your vocabulary against other players. This is played with 100 letter tiles, with the objective of getting the highest score by forming words with said tiles. Players can make use of the multipliers on the board provided to boost their score. The words have to build off other people’s words to count. Through this game, you will learn new, unorthodox words whilst having fun with your loved ones (or competitors).

Mensa mind games
Our very own Mensa Mind Games

More of a book than a board game, this one is for the people who wish to be challenged. Made by Robert Allen, a member of the Mensa High IQ society, this pack has over 200 ways to sharpen the mind for mental agility. It focuses on multiple aspects, such as creativity, categorization, word power and probability to mention some.

Othello Board Games
Our very own Othello

Next game is Othello, which is a game about taking the most space on the board. It takes place on the same board as chess, with a 2×2 diagonal of white and black forming a square in the center. Black starts, placing a bead on an empty square. Any white beads in between turn to black beads, regardless of the amount. Then it is white’s turn. Neither can forfeit their turn and the game ends when both can’t make moves. It helps with strategy and prediction, since nothing is left to chance, like chess.

Now that we’ve given you some board games, why not set up a good old-fashioned games night with family or friends?
